Final Year of Ironman St. George
Wow! What an incredible day at Ironman St. George! No word or picture can even begin to describe May 5th in St. George, as us Ironman athletes fought against the unforeseen wind that arrived just shortly after the swim start.
My day started out calm and relaxed as I had woke from my solid 5 hours of sleep (that is a first in the history of my racing days to sleep that well). No sleeping meds, just a calm conscience that my day was going to be smooth, enjoyable, and memorable. I packed everything up, got dropped off at the busses, and right before I boarded, realized I had left my whole baggie of nutrition in the fridge. Still…no stress or worries, because I had my awesome husband stop by the hotel and bring my nutrition to the race start. Everything was going perfect…I got my bike set up, tires inflated, and the Ironman announcer announced a perfect weather day…83 degrees with only 11mph winds. I loved it!
